1. Go on a walk through the beautiful scenery

Take a moment to appreciate the season by embarking on a nice nature walk in the forest. With mushrooms popping up and the vibrant colors of changing leaves, you are sure of a mesmerizing landscape. In the Dutch forests, you even have a chance to spot some wild animals. Visit the Veluwe and try to spot the Dutch 'Big Five'.

2. Visit a Historic Dutch Castle

The Netherlands is home to a number of historic castles. The Autumn season makes a castle visit even more magical. During these months castles like to organize special activities for kids, making a castle visit perfect for both young and old! Prefer a weekend getaway? You can opt for a magical overnight stay, for example, at Kasteel Erenstein, for an unforgettable experience!

3. Visit a pumpkin patch

Embrace the spirit of Autumn by visiting a local pumpkin patch. As the season transitions, pumpkin patches come to life with a vibrant display of pumpkins in all shapes and sizes. It's the perfect backdrop for a nice seasonal picture. A visit to a pumpkin farm is also suitable for children. Choose a pumpkin together that you can hollow out and decorate at home. Perfect for sparking the creative minds of your kids.

4. Go apple picking

Ever been apple picking? The months of September and October are known for the apple-picking season. During this period, farmers open their doors to the public and organize apple picking day(s), the perfect activity to do with your family and/or friends! Don't forget to bring a large bag during your trip; the apples you pick yourself can often be taken home at a reasonable price. Once at home, you can treat yourself by, for example, baking a fresh apple pie together.

6. Visit Dutch Museums and Galleries

A rainy day doesn't have to be a boring one! Rainy days are perfect for exploring the rich cultural scene in the Netherlands. Visit museums, art galleries, and exhibitions to appreciate Dutch art and history. A Museum visit is fun for both young and old!
